ROUND 9

Bruny vs. Sandy Bay (Home)

Bruny defeated Sandy Bay 12 - 2 (98 to 80 shots)

Our first Pennant Game of this summer...it was supposed to be! The weather was wet. A 6.30 am inspection of the green decided that the game was OK to go ahead so Sandy Bay made the trip down. During the bus trip from the ferry the rain started again but that did not deter the over 200 runners in the Bruny Island Ultra Marathon who were making their way along the 64 kms from Dennes Point to the Cape Bruny lighthouse.

After a rain delayed start it was agreed to complete 60 ends before a break for lunch to guarantee a result. Eventually a full game was completed with only a few breaks because of showers. Bruny won on three rinks whilst our other rink only lost by two shots. Our best performing team was that of Ashley, Max, Scott and Chris who won by the comfortable margin of 11 shots - well done.

With some games being washed out and the competing sides sharing the points Bruny's 12 points put the side in touch of the leaders by remaining in 5th spot on the ladder only two points behind 3rd placed New Norfolk who Bruny will be playing at Bruny next Saturday.
