ROUND 5

Bruny vs. Howrah (Home)

Howrah defeated Bruny 10 - 4 (102 to 90 shots)

Bowls is supposed to be a summer sport. The weather that presented to the bowlers was more like winter. Heavy rain overnight and wind found a green covered with water and leaves. Luckily the water drained away, the leaves were blown off the green and the game proceeded. It was decided to complete 60 ends to guarantee a result before having a break. Showers throughout the game forcing short breaks did not stop the game from being completed.

Howrah proved too strong on the day. The rinks skipped by "J.J" Steed and Milton Lowe, winning by a total of 33 shots ,was enough for Howrah to gain an overall win. The 20 shot winning margin of Chris Martyn's rink was a magnificent effort for Bruny. His team of Noel Moore, Scott Bennett, Chris and Max Burslem (pictured above) was Bruny's Rink of the Day.

A nail biting finish by Neil Jones' rink saw them win by 1 shot to gain another two points for Bruny. Bruny has now slipped to 7th on the ladder so a concerted effort will need to be made at Orford next week.
