Bruny vs. Sandy Bay (Away)

Sandy Bay defeated Bruny 12 - 2 (89 to 66 shots)

We were brought back to reality by Sandy Bay. After winning three games in a row - albeit on synthetic greens, we couldn't handle Sandy Bay even though they are near the bottom of the ladder and their green is in excellent condition.

Our one winning rink was that of Ashley Cooper, Scott Bennett, Noel Moore and Chris Martyn (Pictured) who showed why they are the best performing rink for the third game in a row. They were well behind early in the game but stormed ahead to win by 6 shots.

There was one interesting aspect of the game. As we are short of men players to play in the men's pennant we had two ladies in our team. Sandy Bay must be very short of men as they had seven ladies in their team - nearly half the number of players. It looks as though it is becoming a mixed competition.

It is a very close competition with only 16 points separating the first eight teams - 8 points separate teams 2 to 8! It is a real competition between grass and synthetic greens with four teams playing on synthetic and the other teams playing on various standards of grass greens. Most results throughout the season seem to give wins to the home teams with visitors having problems adapting to the strange greens. The premiership is up for grabs!
