ROUND 11

Bruny vs. Oatlands (Away)

Oatlands defeated Bruny 10 - 4 (92 to 89 shots)

Last year when Bruny visited Oatlands the Club experienced the most severe weather for bowls in its history. It was 4 degrees and strong winds caused the rain and hail to strike the players horizontally. For some reason the game continued in that weather until a result was reached. Bruny lost 4 - 10 and the losing margin was 17 shots.

This visit the weather was much improved....21 degrees, no rain or hail but the strong gusty winds persisted which produced challenging playing conditions. Bruny lost once again 4 - 10 but the margin was only 3 shots. The lead changed several times during the game but in the end Oatland's home ground advantage came to the fore on a very good bowling surface.

Bruny's best performing team was that of Graeme, John, Peter and Neil who maintained a good lead throughout the game. Noel Moore's team of Colin, Kim, Jenny and himself managed a 1 shot win at the very end of their game.

Oatland's win put that Club in 5th position on the ladder with 80 points relegating Bruny to 6th position on 78 shots.

Even though it is a very long trip from Adventure Bay to Oatlands it is an enjoyable visit to a very welcoming Club. The bus trip up and back is another experience.
